Allianz Global Assistance UK Opens its Call Centre for Comic Relief

Volunteers went that extra mile on the night answering phones, taking donations and promoting the brilliant work of the Comic Relief team. During the evening’s hard work, volunteers were treated to some fun and games to keep energies high as well as massages and manicures! Maria’s Face Fun kept a smile on everyone’s faces, as did the Crystal Palace cheerleaders who came along to cheer people on. Caricaturist Ric Machin drew pictures of the volunteers, whilst a local tarot reader from Violet Moon told people their fortunes. Staff also baked cakes to sell, adding to the money raised on the big day.

Special thanks go to free entertainment and food kindly donated by local businesses, including Chick’n Box, Costco, Jasper’s Catering, Denbies Vineyard and Nandos, as well as goodies for the volunteers donated by Walkers Shortbread, Sainsburys, Heat and Now Magazines. The Cronx Brewery in Croydon also dropped into the call centre to serve up some chilled refreshments for the volunteers.

“Once again, our staff really went over and above the call of duty to raise money for Comic Relief,” says Serge Corel, Chief Executive Officer of Allianz Global Assistance in the UK and Ireland. “Each year, everyone gets involved and puts their heart and soul into this truly worthy cause and this year was no exception.

“Of course, the night would not have been possible without the support from local businesses, who donated gifts and food and drink to keep us all going. Our Comic Relief fundraising event offers our staff a chance to give something back and pull together to make a real difference to people in need.”
