First Institute of the Motor Industry Advanced Automotive Assessor Award Presented to Mike Donley

After receiving his award, Mike explained: “The Advanced Automotive Assessor Standard is very relevant to me as it represents both the main skills that I use on a day to day basis and the area I am most passionate about in my working life. It is fantastic to be the first to achieve this and I am proud that I was able to attain the highest standard available.”

The ‘Automotive Trainer and Assessor Professional Recognition Standard’ is available through IMI membership. The award is targeted at trainers and assessors working within the automotive sector and provides an opportunity for these individuals to undergo an assessment of their skills and experience. Individuals who wish to take the advance level qualification need to be actively employed and working with automotive businesses, and will need to undertake a formal assessment.

Lee Taylor, Chief Sales Officer of Allianz Global Assistance in the UK added: “We pride ourselves in offering a very high standard of service within the automotive sector, including through our roadside assistance. We are always looking for different ways to recognise those individuals who possess expert knowledge and the skills to train others, and are proud of Mike’s achievements. Individuals like Mike are intrinsic to our success, and ensure our clients’ customers have the best possible experience and receive the high level of service that they expect from the manufacturer client and Allianz Global Assistance”.

Mike concluded: “I would definitely recommend these standards to people in a similar role to mine. This is the first programme to come along that specifically recognises individuals who are passing on valuable skills and knowledge to others in the automotive sector. Many people in training related positions hold qualifications, but do not necessarily do anything with them to further their careers or have their own achievements recognised. These standards provide a clear route to do that.”
