Mondial Assistance Staff Give Elizabeth House a Makeover

Working with local charity, Croydon Commitment, Mondial Assistance continues to lend its support to the Elizabeth House project, which offers supported housing to 16 – 25 year olds with medium to high support needs. Eight Mondial Assistance staff took days out of the office to help give Elizabeth House a much needed makeover. The project included painting the communal room and some of the bedrooms at the South London YMCA.

Last year Mondial Assistance gave the gardens at Elizabeth House a complete overhaul, using designs by a former resident, and earlier in 2010 raised money for the project through the London to Brighton bike ride.

Stella Kityo, Manager of Elizabeth House says, “We want to thank the Mondial Assistance team for all their hard work and time. The young people here often get forgotten about and when caring people help out by giving a little back to the community it makes a huge difference. It inspires the young people and gives them hope.

“The facelift at Elizabeth House has made a really positive impact on how the residents feel day-to-day. This project has given more than the volunteers will ever understand, as it makes a real difference to the lives of these young people.”

Clarissa Joshua, who is responsible for Mondiality, the Mondial Assistance Corporate Social Responsibility Programme in the UK, adds, “The Elizabeth House project has been a really positive experience for everyone involved. The team really got stuck into the painting and decorating. This project is one small part of programme and illustrates our ongoing focus on giving something back to the local community.”
