Mondial Assistance helps transform green space

Employees from Mondial Assistance UK recently got their hands dirty at Norbury Manor Primary School clearing and tidying several outdoor areas, including a conservation and pond area. By removing weeds and cutting the grass the teams helped create an outdoor classroom within the nature area to help and encourage students to enjoy learning, and the space cleared by the Mondiaility volunteers also means that the school can start a longed-for mini farm, to help the students’ learning.

Mondial staff also improved the general appearance and educational value of the outside space at Norbury Manor by stripping and repainting a wall by the school entrance and restoring the quiet area garden and the old chicken coop. Materials for these projects were generously donated by local N & C Home Improvements.

A total of 80 employees mucked in and spent long hours in the hot sun cutting, digging, painting and rebuilding, and a great time was had by all. Prizes were handed out at the end of the tiring day, including best team leader, best overall team, star pupil and class joker – a particularly tough category.

Jo Watts, School Business Director at Norbury Manor Primary School says, “The children are now able to make the most of the reading garden and can also now enjoy and learn from the outdoor classroom. With the chicken pen fully repaired it is ready to be occupied by some new hens, we’re all very excited and very grateful for Mondial’s help and enthusiasm – we couldn’t have done it without them!”

Kirsty Wardlaw, who is responsible for Mondiality says, “The day at Norbury Manor was a great success with staff making a huge difference to the outdoor environment. We hope to return to the school to help with similar projects in the future. Everyone found the projects incredibly rewarding because it produces such a great result, with which the children are so clearly delighted. Mondiality has become central to the Mondial Assistance work culture and it’s great to see how gratifying the projects are for those involved.”
